History

History of Rancocas Metals Corporation
Rancocas Metals was started when a small metals distributor named Valley Metals was acquired by Indel, Inc. in 1961 and moved to Indel Avenue in Rancocas, New Jersey. However, we soon learned that another company in Pennsylvania had the same name, so we changed our name to Rancocas Metals Corporation. In 1979, we acquired a larger distributor in the tri-state area named Brass and Copper Sales, Inc. This acquisition further strengthened our position in the industry by bringing with it the major mill affiliations that Rancocas Metals was lacking at the time. From that point on, Rancocas Metals continued its growth with the addition of new technologies and cutting edge machinery to help make us the $20 Million dollar company we are today.

The Origin of Our Logo and Mascot
We didn't have to go far to find a logo that represents our company. The Rancocas Valley, where Rancocas Metals is located, is home to the Rancocas Indian Tribe, a part of the Lenni Lenape people. The Lenni Lenape were an exceptionally civilized tribe whose gentle ways and superior techniques brought respect from all who knew them. Once described as 'fearless, strong, handsome, and proud' by explorers, the 'Original People' (translation of Lenni Lenape) came to New Jersey many centuries ago from their ancestral home in Siberia. Their strength and ingenuity allowed them to survive many hardships and adapt to thrive in this land.

Rancocas Metals Corporation is proud to carry a name of such distinguished origin. Evidence of this pride is the Indian head incorporated into our logo and in our company mascot, 'Chief Many Metals'. The Chief tells the Rancocas Metals story in a most unique fashion and appears on some of our literature, lending his vibrant personality and spirit to the entire Rancocas team.
